A thinking partner.
Not a thinking replacement.
Most AI interfaces are optimized for fluent answers and rapid engagement. They train a pattern of cognitive surrender — accepting the output, inflating confidence, ceasing to think. Deliberate inverts the defaults.
- [01] Calibrated friction. Before high-stakes questions you state your prior, what would change your mind, and what's at stake. Then a cooldown.
- [02] Confidence is visible. Every claim is tagged confident, plausible, or speculative — not buried in fluent prose.
- [03] Disagreement by default. Every substantive response is shadowed by the strongest case against it, and a list of what the answer left out.
- [04] No theatre of warmth. No avatar. No "I feel." No simulated typing rhythm. It is a tool, not a presence.
Some of what this does will be slower or more uncomfortable than other AI tools you have used. That is the design.
